FAQs

Botox and Dysport at Ardan

Botox Cosmetic and Dysport are prescription injections that temporarily soften certain facial lines. At Ardan they’re given by Susan Fallon, RN, on Tuesdays, and every plan starts with a consultation.

How much do Botox and Dysport cost at Ardan?

Both are $15 per unit. Your total depends on the plan Susan sets with you at your consultation.

What are Botox and Dysport?

They’re two brands of botulinum toxin, a prescription medicine injected into specific facial muscles. Their units aren’t interchangeable, so doses differ between brands.

How do they work?

They block the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract, so the muscle relaxes for a while and the lines it creates look softer.

What can they treat?

Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved in adults for moderate to severe:

  • Frown lines between the brows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead lines
  • Vertical neck bands (platysma bands)

And Dysport?

Dysport is FDA-approved for moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in adults under sixty-five.

What does it feel like?

Most people say it feels like a quick pinch.

How long does the appointment take?

The injections themselves take about 10–15 minutes. Plan extra time for your consultation.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Results can start in 24–48 hours, with full results in about 30 days. Botox Cosmetic can last up to 4 months, and Dysport up to 5 months.

How often can I be treated?

No more often than once every 3 months.

Is there downtime?

Botox Cosmetic involves very minimal downtime for the face. If you notice weakness, vision problems, or dizziness afterward, don’t drive or do other risky activities.

What are the common side effects?

The most common side effects in clinical studies included:

  • Drooping eyelid or brow
  • Headache
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Pain or a reaction where you were injected
  • Cold-like nose and throat symptoms (Dysport)

Is there a serious warning?

Yes. Both carry an FDA boxed warning that, rarely, the effect can spread beyond the injection area hours to weeks later, causing muscle weakness, double vision, drooping eyelids, or trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing. Get medical help right away if that happens.

Who shouldn’t get Botox or Dysport?

You shouldn’t be treated if you:

  • Are allergic to any botulinum toxin product or its ingredients
  • Have a skin infection where you’d be injected
  • Are allergic to cow’s milk protein (Dysport)

What should I tell the injector before treatment?

Tell the injector about:

  • Any muscle or nerve condition, such as ALS or myasthenia gravis
  • Pregnancy, plans to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
  • All medicines, including blood thinners and aspirin
  • Any botulinum toxin shot in the last 4 months

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes. Every injectable plan at Ardan starts with a consultation with Susan on a Tuesday.
