Fillers at Ardan: Restylane and Sculptra

Restylane and Sculptra are FDA-approved injectables that work in different ways. Both are with Susan Fallon, RN, on Tuesdays, after a consultation.

How much do fillers cost at Ardan?

Restylane starts at $750 per syringe. Sculptra is priced at your consultation, based on your plan.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a family of clear hyaluronic acid (HA) gel fillers. HA is a substance found naturally in skin that helps with hydration and fullness.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It’s FDA-approved for smile lines (nasolabial folds), fine lines and wrinkles in the cheek area, and other facial wrinkles.

How are they different?

Restylane adds volume right away. Sculptra works gradually, because the body may build new collagen where it’s injected.

How long does an appointment take?

Most Restylane appointments take less than an hour. Plan extra time for your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

Restylane results can be seen almost right away. For Sculptra, most people have two to three sessions spaced at least 3–4 weeks apart.

How long do results last?

Restylane results last up to 6–18 months, depending on the product and area. Sculptra results can last up to 2 years.

Does it hurt?

Many Restylane products contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine. For Sculptra, most pain goes away within 24 hours.

What are the common side effects?

Common side effects include:

  • Swelling and redness
  • Bruising
  • Pain or tenderness
  • Itching
  • Small lumps or bumps

How long do side effects last?

For Restylane, injection-site reactions usually last less than 7 days, and up to about 14 days in the lips. Tell your provider if anything lasts longer than 2 weeks.

Are there serious risks?

Rarely, filler can be injected into a blood vessel, which can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. Get care right away for vision changes, skin turning white, or unusual pain.

Who shouldn’t get fillers?

Fillers aren’t for people who:

  • Have severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis
  • Are allergic to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins (Restylane)
  • Have a bleeding disorder
  • Have a history of keloid or raised scars (Sculptra)
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (safety not established)

How should I prepare?

Aspirin, ibuprofen-type pain relievers, St. John’s wort, and high-dose vitamin E can increase bruising. Ask the injector before stopping any medicine.

What’s the aftercare?

Aftercare includes:

  • Restylane: limit hard exercise, heat, and sun for 24 hours
  • Sculptra: use a wrapped ice pack in the first 24 hours
  • Sculptra: gently rub the area 5 minutes, five times a day, for 5 days
  • Postpone treatment if you have a pimple, rash, or infection in the area

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes. Every injectable plan at Ardan starts with a consultation with the injector.
